Our Team

"Part of the fun of wine and winemaking is the journey you take.
It never really ends, but continues to develop as the years go by."
-Jürgen Grieb, Head Winemaker and Owner

Juergen Grieb

Juergen Grieb was born and raised in Trier, Germany, where he received his formal winemaking and sparkling winemaking degrees. While in school, Juergen learned to produce some of the finest Rieslings in the Mosel-Saar-Ruwer at Karthäuserhof Winery.  Juergen studied under the tutelage of Herr Breiling and Christoph Tyrell, two of Germany’s most decorated winemakers. With an expertise in Riesling, Juergen also developed his passion for sparkling wine. He pursued a second apprenticeship at the Duhr Sektkellerei in downtown Trier. There, he learned the craft of Méthode Champenoise sparkling wine production.

After earning his formal degrees and finishing his apprenticeships in Germany, Juergen applied for a job at Langguth Winery in Washington State. He came to Washington State in 1982 and has been making quality Washington wine ever since.  Juergen has accumulated more than 30 years of winemaking experience, making wines from every growing region in the state. He continues to craft premium wines at Treveri Cellars, which is Washington’s only sparkling wine house. Juergen’s passion and enthusiasm for sparkling wine is present in every bottle he produces, and like any good German, he lives to share his passion with everyone he meets.

Christian Grieb

As a young man, Christian was exposed to the ins and outs of winemaking in Washington State by working with his father, Juergen. With one of the state’s best winemakers as his teacher, his interest in winemaking peaked immediately, and he’s been hooked ever since. With an aptitude for business, Christian earned his BA in Business Administration from Seattle University, and has since translated his business skills to Treveri Cellars, where he now works alongside his father.

Since beginning his career at Treveri, Christian has completed eight harvests a Winemaker, and completed the UC Davis Winemaking Certificate program. With his father, Christian continues to craft some of the finest sparkling wines in the United States.

Julie Grieb

Julie has been an owner and general manager of Treveri Cellars since its inception. After 25 years in the banking industry, Julie decided to join her husband and winemaker, Juergen Grieb, in opening Treveri Cellars. In her free time, Julie enjoys giving back to the community by serving on several non-profit boards including Wine Yakima Valley and KCTS9 Yakima/Seattle. Julie is also a member of the Yakima Chamber of Commerce and the Visit Yakima Convention Center. Julie is working on a Certificate of Wine Business Management at Sonoma State University.

Katie Grieb

Katie joined Treveri as Senior VP of Marketing after working for a Fortune 500 company doing marketing and project management. After over a decade in Western Washington, Katie heard the call to wine country and is enjoying developing the Treveri brand in the sunshine of eastern Washington. Katie has an MBA from Seattle University, and a BA from the University of Washington. An avid sports fan, Katie can be found cheering for the Dawgs, Sounders, and Seahawks.

Brandon Dietrich

Brandon is the Bubble Club Manager at Treveri Cellars and has worked in wine production harvests at different wineries throughout the Yakima Valley, and as well as harvest in Australia.  Brandon started with Treveri as Tasting Room Manager in 2016, and has since moved to manage the Bubble Club. Brandon is working on his B.S. in Global Wine Studies at Central Washington University.
When Brandon isn’t working with club members, he enjoys spending time in Spokane with his family and friends. He also enjoys being on the water - kayaking, paddle boarding, and fishing – always making sure there is a chilled bottle of Treveri.

David Carlton

David is the Production and Plant Manager at Treveri Cellars. Having started his career in the wine industry at Sagelands Winery in 2005, David brings a vast level of experience and leadership. Starting as a Cellar Manager at Treveri in 2010, David transitioned two years ago to overseeing the entire cellar and production.

When he’s not making sure the bubbles end up in the bottle, David enjoys the outdoors – hiking, fishing, and camping – with his dog, Piper and his true passion is riding and racing dirt bikes.
